Happy Smile Charity 2018

In 2018, Serenity International Dental Clinic organized the Happy Smile Charity event to provide free dental examinations and treatment to underserved communities in Vietnam. This initiative reflected our belief that quality dental care should be accessible to everyone, regardless of economic circumstances. Here is a look back at what the event accomplished and why community outreach remains a core part of our clinic’s mission.

The Purpose Behind Happy Smile Charity

Oral health is a fundamental component of overall well-being, yet millions of people in Vietnam and throughout Southeast Asia lack access to basic dental care. Financial barriers, geographic isolation, and limited awareness of the importance of oral hygiene contribute to high rates of untreated cavities, gum disease, and tooth loss, particularly among children and rural populations.

The Happy Smile Charity event was created to address these gaps by bringing professional dental services directly to communities that need them most. The goal was not only to treat existing dental problems but also to educate participants about preventive oral care habits that could improve their dental health for years to come.

What the Event Accomplished

Free Dental Examinations

Our team of dentists and dental hygienists conducted comprehensive oral health screenings for participants of all ages. These examinations identified cavities, gum disease, infections, and other conditions that many patients had been living with untreated due to lack of access to care.

Basic Dental Treatments

In addition to examinations, the Happy Smile Charity event provided basic treatments free of charge, including:

Simple tooth extractions for teeth that were too damaged to save
Professional teeth cleanings to remove plaque and tartar buildup

The Impact on the Community

Many participants had never visited a dentist before and were receiving professional dental care for the first time in their lives. For children, the event provided an opportunity to learn about oral hygiene in a friendly, non-threatening environment, helping to reduce fear and anxiety about dental visits.

Several cases identified during the screenings required more extensive follow-up treatment. Where possible, our team coordinated referrals and follow-up care to ensure these patients received the treatment they needed beyond the scope of the charity event.
