14-Day Dental Tourism Itinerary: Vietnam North to South 2026
The ultimate 14-day Vietnam dental tourism itinerary combining treatment in Hanoi with sightseeing in Hue, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City. Perfect for implants and complex work.
Last updated: April 22, 2026
Why 14 Days Changes Everything for Dental Tourism
Seven days in Hanoi suits veneers, crowns, and teeth whitening. But if you need dental implants, All-on-4, a full set of veneers across both arches, or any multi-stage treatment involving bone work, you need more time — and Vietnam rewards you generously for taking it.
Fourteen days in Vietnam is not a compromise. It is one of the best ways to experience the country. Starting in Hanoi in the north, passing through the ancient imperial city of Hue, spending time in the beach resort of Da Nang (where Picasso Dental has a second clinic at 420 Hoang Dieu), exploring the UNESCO heritage town of Hoi An, and finishing in the vibrant south in Ho Chi Minh City — this is a journey that most long-haul travelers dream about. Dental treatment gives you the schedule structure to actually do it.
This itinerary has been built around Picasso Dental Clinic’s multi-city presence. We have clinics in Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City (25B Nguyen Duy Hieu, Quan 2), which means your treatment can be monitored and checked at multiple points across your trip. For patients requiring complex work, this is a genuine clinical advantage.
Before you read on, review our dental costs page and our process to understand what to expect at each stage.
Procedures That Suit 14 Days
Not every procedure requires 14 days, but the following cases benefit enormously from the extended window:
Dental Implants (single or multiple): Implant placement on Day 2–3, healing period, impressions and crown fitting on Days 11–12. This gives 8–9 days of osseointegration before final restoration — adequate for uncomplicated single implants.
All-on-4 First Stage: Implant placement, immediate temporary arch fitted same day. 10–12 days of healing before the final follow-up check. Final fixed arch is fabricated and delivered at a separate visit (or sent home via courier with a referral for fitting).
Full Veneer Sets (12–16 teeth): Extended preparation sessions allow for more precise shade matching and lab communication. Multiple try-in appointments possible within 14 days.
Combination Cases: Crown + implant + whitening combinations that would be rushed in 7 days are comfortable in 14. Multiple treatment days can be scheduled with adequate recovery between.
For shorter trips, see our 7-Day Dental Tourism Itinerary: Hanoi + Ha Long Bay.
Day-by-Day Itinerary
Days 1–3: Hanoi + Picasso Dental Initial Treatment
Day 1 — Arrival and Consultation
Land at Noi Bai International Airport (HAN). Check into your hotel in Ba Dinh or Hoan Kiem district — see Hanoi hotel recommendations for options near our Chau Long clinic.
Late afternoon: Full consultation at Picasso Dental Clinic, 16 Chau Long, Ba Dinh. This includes:
- Complete digital X-ray series
- CBCT 3D cone beam scan (for implant and complex cases)
- Examination and diagnosis
- Written treatment plan with itemized pricing
- Preliminary scheduling of all treatment sessions
Evening: Rest. Light dinner. No alcohol. The consultation alone can be a lot to process — take the evening to review your treatment plan and email any follow-up questions to your treatment coordinator.
Day 2 — Primary Treatment Session
Main surgical or restorative appointment. For implant patients, this is the day of placement under local anesthetic. For veneer patients, this is preparation and temporaries. For All-on-4 patients, this is the most significant day of the trip — plan for a 4–6 hour appointment followed by complete rest.
Post-treatment care: Return to hotel, soft foods only, ice packs for swelling, prescribed medications as directed. Avoid public transport — take a Grab car back to your hotel.
Day 3 — Recovery in Hanoi
Rest morning. Gentle exploration of Hanoi in the afternoon if energy allows. Recommended low-exertion options:
- Hoan Kiem Lake walk (flat, peaceful)
- Vietnam Women’s Museum (air-conditioned, quiet)
- Temple of Literature (mostly shaded gardens)
- Egg coffee at a traditional ca phe trung (Cafe Giang near the Old Quarter is the original)
Avoid: Temple of Literature climbing stairs if head is still tender, crowded Ben Thanh-equivalent markets, any alcohol.
Days 4–5: Ha Long Bay
Day 4 — Transfer to Ha Long Bay
Morning transfer from Hanoi to Ha Long Bay (3–3.5 hours by private car or express bus). Board your cruise at noon.
Two-day Ha Long Bay cruises cover the central bay area, visiting Sung Sot Cave, Titop Island, and various fishing villages. The overnight experience — sleeping on the water, far from city noise — is genuinely restorative after treatment.
For implant patients on Day 4 post-op: cruise life is appropriate. Avoid kayaking if you are still taking prescription pain relief. Bamboo boat rides through lagoons are a gentler alternative.
Eating on the cruise: Vietnamese cruise menus offer excellent soft-food options — steamed fish with ginger, silken tofu, soft rice, clear soups, and stir-fried vegetables. Avoid hard shellfish (crab claws, whole prawns in shell).
Day 5 — Ha Long Bay + Return to Hanoi
Morning on the bay: sunrise photography, final cave visits, and cooking demonstration. Return to port by early afternoon. Transfer back to Hanoi, arriving early evening.
Days 6–7: Hanoi Follow-Up + Optional Hue Excursion
Day 6 — Follow-Up Appointment at Picasso Hanoi
Return appointment at 16 Chau Long. Depending on your treatment:
- Veneer patients: final porcelain veneers bonded (most cases)
- Crown patients: final crowns cemented
- Implant patients: healing assessment, suture removal, impressions for crown if healing is confirmed
- All-on-4 patients: assessment of temporary arch, adjustments as needed
This appointment may take 2–4 hours. Afterward, you are free.
Afternoon: West Lake (Ho Tay) for lunch. The lakeside Xuan Dieu strip has good soft-food restaurants. Recommended: bun thang (Hanoi rice vermicelli soup), chao (rice porridge), banh cuon (steamed rice rolls).
Day 7 — Hue Day Trip or Overnight
Option A: Day trip to Hue by afternoon train (2.5 hours on the Reunification Express). Visit the Imperial Citadel and Thien Mu Pagoda. Return to Hanoi by night train or early next morning. Note: this is a long day — only recommended if you are feeling strong.
Option B: Rest day in Hanoi. This is a legitimate choice, especially for All-on-4 patients or anyone who found the first week more tiring than expected. Use the time to shop, visit the Fine Arts Museum, or book a Vietnamese cooking class (most involve soft foods — pho, spring roll preparation).
Days 8–9: Da Nang + Picasso Da Nang
Day 8 — Fly Hanoi to Da Nang
Morning flight from Noi Bai (HAN) to Da Nang (DAD) — approximately 1.5 hours. Vietnam Airlines, VietJet, and Bamboo Airways all operate this route frequently.
Check into your Da Nang hotel. The My Khe Beach area and Han River waterfront are both convenient for getting around. Afternoon: visit our Da Nang clinic at 420 Hoang Dieu for a mid-trip check-up. This is especially valuable for:
- Implant patients (healing assessment)
- All-on-4 patients (temporary arch comfort check and any adjustment)
- Anyone with ongoing sensitivity or concerns
Evening: Da Nang’s Han River waterfront is beautiful at night. The Dragon Bridge (Cau Rong) breathes fire and water on weekend evenings at 21:00.
Day 9 — Da Nang Sightseeing
Morning: Marble Mountains (Ngu Hanh Son) — five limestone and marble hills with caves, pagodas, and panoramic views. The climb is moderate — avoid it if post-operative discomfort is still significant. The elevator option is available.
Afternoon: My Khe Beach. Da Nang has some of the best urban beaches in Southeast Asia — clean, uncrowded, and long. Swimming is generally safe (check local flags). Saltwater is not a concern for implants or veneers at this healing stage.
Evening: Mi Quang (Da Nang’s signature turmeric noodle dish) is available in softer preparations at most restaurants. Ba Mien restaurant on Hoang Dieu is excellent and close to our clinic.
Days 10–11: Hoi An
Day 10 — Transfer to Hoi An
Hoi An is 30 kilometers south of Da Nang (30–40 minutes by Grab). Check into your hotel — the Ancient Town is UNESCO-listed and best explored on foot or by bicycle.
Afternoon: Ancient Town walk. The Japanese Covered Bridge, Phung Hung Old House, and the riverside merchant quarter are compact and accessible. Evening: the lantern-lit riverside is one of Southeast Asia’s most beautiful street scenes.
Eating in Hoi An: Hoi An has exceptional food options compatible with dental recovery — white rose dumplings (steamed), cao lau noodles (soft version available on request), banh mi (ask for the baguette to be removed if jaw is still tender, and eat just the fillings). Restaurants near the ancient town will accommodate dietary requests if you explain.
Day 11 — Hoi An + An Bang Beach
Morning: Bicycle ride to An Bang Beach (4 km from town). This is relaxed, genuinely beautiful, and appropriately gentle as recovery activity.
Afternoon: Hoi An’s tailoring district if you want custom clothing made (most shops complete orders in 24–48 hours). Cooking class at a local school — Hoi An cooking classes are primarily vegetable and rice-based, excellent for dental recovery.
Late afternoon: Transfer back to Da Nang airport (or continue south to Ho Chi Minh City by evening flight).
Days 12–13: Ho Chi Minh City + Picasso HCMC
Day 12 — Fly Da Nang to Ho Chi Minh City
Morning flight from Da Nang (DAD) to Tan Son Nhat (SGN) — approximately 1.5 hours. Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) is Vietnam’s largest city and most dynamic urban experience.
Check into your hotel — Districts 1, 2, and 3 are all convenient. Our HCMC clinic is at 25B Nguyen Duy Hieu, Quan 2 (District 2), approximately 20 minutes from District 1.
Afternoon: Final clinic appointment at Picasso Dental HCMC. For implant patients who received placement in Hanoi on Day 2, you are now at Day 11 post-op — an ideal time for a final healing check before flying home. For All-on-4 patients, this appointment may include adjustments, photographs, and final documentation.
Evening: Ho Chi Minh City’s District 1 is endlessly walkable at night — Ben Thanh Market area, Nguyen Hue Walking Street, and the rooftop bars of Bui Vien Street (observe rather than participate in the nightlife if still avoiding alcohol).
Day 13 — Ho Chi Minh City Sightseeing
Morning: Reunification Palace (formerly the Presidential Palace — historically significant, air-conditioned, and calm). War Remnants Museum (moving and important, though emotionally demanding).
Afternoon: Ben Thanh Market for last-minute shopping. Cu Chi Tunnels day trip if history interests you (90 minutes from the city center — a half-day tour).
Evening: Final dinner. Ho Chi Minh City’s food scene is extraordinary. For dental recovery: hu tieu Nam Vang (Phnom Penh-style noodle soup, very soft), com tam (broken rice with soft braised pork), or banh canh (thick udon-like noodle soup). Avoid anything requiring significant chewing force.

FAQ
Q: Can All-on-4 really be started and finished in 14 days? A: In most cases, the All-on-4 process involves two stages. Stage 1 (implant placement + immediate temporary arch) is completed in Days 2–3. After several months of osseointegration, the final fixed porcelain arch is fitted. For patients who need the final arch, a return trip (or arrangement with a referring dentist at home) is required. Some patients choose to return to Vietnam for the final fitting — which is often combined with another trip. Picasso’s treatment coordinators will discuss the full timeline clearly before you commit.
Q: Is it safe to fly between Vietnamese cities post-treatment? A: Domestic flights in Vietnam are short (1–1.5 hours) and involve minimal cabin pressure change compared to long-haul international flights. For most dental procedures, domestic flights are fine from Day 3 onward. Discuss your specific case with your dentist.
Q: Do all three Picasso clinics (Hanoi, Da Nang, HCMC) maintain shared patient records? A: Yes. Patient records are shared across our clinic network. The Da Nang and HCMC check-up appointments have full access to your Hanoi treatment documentation, X-rays, and CBCT scans.
Q: What if I need more recovery time than expected? A: The itinerary has flex built in. Days 6–7 (Hue excursion) and Days 10–11 (Hoi An) are the easiest to convert to rest days without losing significant experiences. Ha Long Bay is inherently gentle and can be adapted.
Q: Can I see Hoi An and Hue on a 14-day dental trip? A: Yes — this itinerary includes both. Hue is covered as a Day 7 option (day trip or overnight from Hanoi), and Hoi An is Days 10–11. Both are UNESCO World Heritage Sites and major highlights of any Vietnam trip.
Q: What is the total cost of a 14-day dental tourism trip to Vietnam? A: Treatment costs vary by procedure — see our dental costs page. For context, a single implant with crown at Picasso ranges from approximately AUD 1,800–2,400, compared to AUD 5,000–7,000 in Australia. Combined treatment savings across multiple procedures often exceed the total cost of the trip itself. Patient reviews on this topic are available at our reviews page.
